What Happens to a Refrigerator Without a Drain Tube?

Just purchased a refrigerator and during transport we broke the drain tube on the back of the refrigerator. Will the refrigerator still work? Is this something that can be easily fixed? What happens if the refrigerator is running without the drain tube?

just attach an extension. It will work fine without but on the defrost cycle some water will start coming out…find a way to catch it. I use a big sponge in a paint tray
