Our 1st great washer repair secret is the concept of leveling.

Because your washing machine is so heavy, if it's not level, it can vibrate roughly during the spin cycle. If your washing machine isn't perfectly level, having all 4 legs on the floor, it can bang and rock back and forth, and might even start to walk across the room. This isn't good for the washer and could break anything in the vicinity of the washer according to the Appliance King of appliance repair Chicago.

  • Your washing machine comes with adjustable, front leveling legs with a lock nut. You move the leg to the correct height, and tighten the lock nut up against the body of the washer to prevent the leg from turning.

A couple machines include adjustable leveling legs in the rear as well, and you may adjust them in the same way. Keep your washer as near to the floor as you can, the lower it is, the less chance there is to vibrate.

Many machines, still, have "self-adjusting" rear legs. You adjust these legs by moving the complete washer forward onto its front legs (with the rear legs three to four inches from the floor) and then putting your washer back down. Its legs should adjust automatically. If they don't, you could have to tilt your washer forward and rap on the rear legs with the handle of a hammer to loosen the legs, a procedure that's easier to complete with a assistant.

Lint management is also key for washer maintenance and Chicago appliance repair.

Most washers accumulate lint over the course of the machine cycle and send it down the drain during the drain cycle.

If your washing machine is a Maytag, though, it could be different. Most Maytag washers collect lint in the middle tube of the agitator. You need to lift out that tube and clean it occasionally. Different machines have a lint filter close to the top of their tub, which you need to slide out, clean off, and then put back in.
