Is There a Website Where I Can Order Parts for My Refrigerator That Are Cheaper Than Buying From Sears?
Someday Soon asked:
I'm not sure what is wrong with it, but I'm going to try a defrost heater next and see that works. They are $46 through Sears Parts Direct. Can I get it cheaper somewhere else - like a "generic" brand?

have not had good luck trying to do anything with products made in sears brand name. they used to control what went into their products so if you need any repairs you mostly had to go to them. good luck with your search
Order the defrost t-stat also…make you unplug frig you will need wire stripper and wire nuts after you have the everything in let it run for a little then turn the dial on the timer you should hear heaters making a clicking sound….what is your model number may find them cheaper……All sears products are either whirlpool.Ge Maytag etc etc they just slap Kenmore stickers on
If you live in KY there is a parts place in florence ,ky on Turfway rd I use
Is there any one you know that can test the heater out for you before you order that?
You may be able to even see the break and then you can be sure.
All you would need is some elec. know how and a meter.
Of coarse it would have to be defrosted to get at.
Ah, Sears, the master of the business world when it comes to controlling how you get parts for its products. I doubt Sears makes even one appliance or product. It contracts it all out, insists on using a Sears serial or parts number on all components, then controls the market for repairs by not allowing any other business to access the same piece via a cross reference data base. The only way most places get around this is by direct comparison and experience. Thus, most of the time you pay Sears about 25% more than you would for the same part, but you don’t know how to get that part because of Sears’ practice. Just try to find a cable for a Sears lawnmower at a parts place…..Nice bit of management from one of the world’s largest retailers.
This is a diatribe against Sears, not a suggestion about how you can find the correct part. You could call a lot of parts places and ask if they have something they know will fit the Sears product. Time consuming.
Unless you really like Sears products, you may be better off next time buying a different brand (knowing all the time that that particular brand has at some time made stuff for Sears to sell under the Sears brand).
Ch out It helped me more than once
repair clinic.com you get actual photos of the parts so you can be assured of gettting what you want Most parts come from one manufactor FMP (Franklin Machine Products) you can try their site also, but i don’t know if they sell to the general public, like repairclinic does.
