Patricia J asked:

I am looking at a house that is extremely cheap for my market. Realtor says it needs $50k in repair, but I was hoping to put $100K into it to do the full deal (granite/stainless Sub zero appliances etc) Hypothetically, if the purchase price of the house was $100,000, would I be able to take out a loan for $200,000 to do my desired repairs? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am a first time home buyer. Thanks
Here is some more information pertaining to my situation...
House is valued at $340,000 on zillow.com. House next door is worth $617,000 and none of the houses on the street are under $375,000 (except this one) In general, the median value of the houses on the street are $425k. My credit is fair not great or stellar at all, but I have a large income, and am pre-approved for $500,000. I do not have $100,000 saved to spend of my own money. I use my money for private school for my kids.
