The answer to your query if it is new installation is: This was installed when the house was built in 1985. Worked fine since that time till just now. At this time no appliance, lamp or any device is plugged into any of the GFCI protected outlets-6 in all. Four of these outlets I have checked and replaced outlet for several with new ones. Two remaining outlets are outlets with covers for the outside---eg use for electric grass trimmer. Back at the GFCI breaker I checked voltage between the line and neutral wires screwed to it and there it reads 120V.

Only question I have……….is you said at this point nothing is plugged in…………sooooooooo…..so something has tripped something somewhere…….push all the reset buttons …also I have had a bad gfci………and that’s really neat……..pull all your hair out……wondering………night What I mean by bad is right out of the new box……it was shipped bad. bye

For the panel and nothings plugged in the circuit to interfere with your testing try to check that tests wrong or the first receptacle tests right are working and wiring.
For the most likely locations for the problem is always in it test right that tests right that all the circuit to eliminate any lineneutral connection on.
